The proposal. Charter a light aircraft to Kaieteur Falls and ask the question on the very lip of the gorge, mist rising around you. Or make it quieter: a dugout canoe at dawn, a hilltop over the Rupununi, a private sandbank on the Essequibo lit by candles and stars.
The wedding. Exchange vows barefoot on a blackwater beach, under a rainforest canopy alive with macaws, or in one of Georgetown's historic gardens beside St. George's Cathedral. Eco-lodges and ranches host intimate ceremonies where the reception is a bonfire, tassa drums and a Guyanese feast — pepperpot, seven-curry and rum from estates older than most nations.
The honeymoon. Stay on: river safaris for giant otters, hammocks at a savannah ranch, birding at dawn and waterfalls you will have entirely to yourselves. One country — jungle, savannah, river and coast — without changing hotels more than a handful of times.
